The Sibling She Didn't Know She Had

It was near curfew time for the dorms when Sarah quietly moved through the halls, making nearly no sound except for her socked feet on the cold, hard floor. Carrying a small glass of water, she hoped that she wouldn't disturb anyone as she tried to make it back to her own room... at the far end of the hallway. With a heavy sigh, she continued, thankful she didn't see anyone.

Ic: Shadows creept around every corner. The black-haired boy stared at his dark socks as he strode down the hallway, staring down at the smooth tiles below him. Which way was his dorm again? Was it- As he looked up, he bumped into a silhouetted figure, and cold water splashed against his shirt, soaking him. Enraged and frightened, Happy staggered backward, eyes wide. It wasn't usual to see anyone at night like this while he was. "S- Sorry!" his soft sheepish words flew out blindly. "I didn't mean to! I'll get back to my dorm as soon as-" His words were cut off as the shape of the figure was made out as a young girl. A familiar girl. "Sarah?" he whispered, blinking oddly. A sigh of relief escaped his lips. Oh, thank God...

Bumping straight into her brother, Sarah took a step back to catch her balance before recognizing that she, too, had gotten rather wet from the water spilling. "Oh great!" She whispered as she suddenly looked up at Happy. "Hap?" She asked, his figure and appearance only reassuring her that it was indeed him. "What are you doing out here?" She whispered sternly, yet there was a hint of relief in her voice from her thanking anything and everything that it hadn't been a guardian.

"I should be asking the same thing!" Suddenly, the large shape disappeared and in his place sat a small black bunny. An ear flopped down limplessly. His feeble body shuddered as he stared in shock. The bunny shook its head and looked at Sarah as if it were her fault. "Don't scare me like that! Sheesh..." he groaned, shaking away his scare. He flicked his long ear in disgust as he turned away. "And... Umm... I was just looking for some peace and quiet. My roommates aren't to my liking," he explained. Swiftly, Happy took a moment to scratch his floppy ear with his hind leg. "And I'm not adorable!" he snapped sharply, as if he knew she'd comment.

As Happy turned into a small rabbit, all Sarah could do was smile and stifle a giggle. "Alright, well if you aren't adorable, then you're fierce. The mighty bunny will kill us all! Mountains tremble! Oceans flee! The bunny that will rule the world!" Rolling her eyes, she bent down and picked him up in her hands. "And I was out here because I was doing some late-night studying. I didn't want to disturb anyone. Then I ran into you. And who are you roommates again?"

Happy stared at her irritably, shifting in her palms as she picked him up. "And don't you forget it," he growled. "Like I wanted to get to know them! I only know two. Jacob and Chrysler," he breathed. His sister was the only one he really opened up to. "What about your roomies? How have they been treating you?" the bunny asked.

Sarah had to think a moment to actually remember all of her roommates. The only one that she remembered that really stood out to her was Nathaniel. "They're okay. I don't really know them either but I'm sure that over time, we could all be pretty good friends. That is, if they're willing to be friends." She then set Happy back down on the floor before moving her gaze off to the side. The only problem with her roommates was that she always felt so awkward around them, and she couldn't decide if it was her or them.

Ic: Happy listened intently. As his giant feet touched the ground, he looked up at her with mistified eyes. "Sarah," Happy began, starting in a low whisper. He watched her, grinning smallishly as he spoke, "there's a guy isn't there!?" Then, he began chuckling under his breath.

Her eyes suddenly shot back towards her brother as her cheeks started to turn bright red. "No!" She hesitated. "I mean, maybe. I don't know! Why are you trying to get into my business?!" She shouted at him, trying to cover for herself but epically failing. Resorting to the last thing she could think of, she turned her head away from him, making her hair swing into her face as an attempt to cover up how hot her face was burning. The nerve! She thought to herself.

Happy couldn't help but laugh his heart out (at at least a low level ;u;). He fluffed his cottony tail and snickered. "See? I can be fierce! Rawr!" He eyed her, pleased with himself that he had pryed a secret from her. "Calm down, calm down. I just wanted to embarrass you in front of nobody at all in return for spilling your water on my shirt!"

Trying to calm herself down, she turned back to her brother with a frown on her face. "Hey, you did that to yourself. You ran into me, remember? And I got soaked too, you know," She responded, crossing her arms in front of her chest.

Happy shook his fur, blinking at her with bright blue eyes. "Yeah? That's gravity's fault, sis," he murmured. "Sorry for it, though," he began, his soft side showing. "Um... do you want me to go get you another glass?" the bunny asked, standing on his hind legs and watched her, twitching his small whiskers.

Blinking at his sudden change of heart, she quickly shook her head. "No, I can always go back and get another. No sense in both of us possibly getting caught. Besides, I don't think I was even going to drink it anyway." She smiled.

Happy smiled, but suddenly narrowed his eyes. "You weren't gonna drink it!?" he echoed, jaw dropping. "You planned to spill it on me!? You- You--! You little-!" The black bunny began pawing at her feet in what looked like hitting motions.

Sarah could only laugh at Happy's attempt at abuse. "No, I wasn't planning anything. It was just mere coincidence that you ran into me!"

Happy a grunt of dispair. "My God, Sarah. Were you gonna spill your glass on some other poor unfortunate soul? Like your boyfriend?" he teased again, laughing lightly.

Sarah's cheeks suddenly started to burn again. "No! I was, uh, just going to, um... save it for later! Yeah, that's what I was going to do. Never know when you're going to need some water," She stuttered, trying to hide her embarrassment, yet it epically failed.

"Nyaaahahaha!" he laughed softly. "Oh, yeah. Never know when to spill water on your crush, amirite?" he sneered. Happy suddenly undergone a change, a young boy replaced with the bunny. He sat in the same position he was in, except in underwear. He gave a yelp and put his clothes back on and suddenly scrambled to his feet, rubbing the back of his neck.

"No you're not right! I wouldn't ever intentionally spill water on someone," She responded with a glare as an idea popped into her head. "I guess like you wouldn't intentionally go all cute-bunny-mode in front of your crush, though. So I guess I see your point."

"I don't have a crush!" he hissed. "I haven't ever, and I never will!" Happy glared at her, not amused. Suddenly, he added sharply, "and who are you calling a cute bunny!? I'll kill you!" He balled his hands into fists and frowned.

"You say that now, but wait until you're older. You'll be falling in love left and right!" She grinned before it quickly disappeared. "Now you wouldn't kill your sister, would you?"

"No!!" he protested. He flared at her a few moments before she stopped grinning and looked a little uncertain. Happy gasped. He didn't really mean it! He loved his sister! And I promise myself that she'll be the only girl I will ever love! "I- I-! I'm sorry! I didn't... I didn't mean it!" Happy lost all trace of humor and hugged her quickly, eyes trained on her shoulder. "Sorry! Don't be mad!! Don't be mad..."

Upon seeing that she had made her own brother upset, Sarah suddenly looked horrified. She didn't mean for him to think that she was upset. Dang it! She thought to herself. "No, no! I'm not mad! I promise! I'm sorry for making you think I was!" She replied, quickly embracing Happy into a hug. "I didn't mean to make you upset. I'm sorry..."

Happy looked at her in her eyes, his milky eye blank and mistified. "O- Okie..." He pulled away from her gently, looking at his feet nervously. "I just um... Don't wanna see you upset with something I did or said. And if I ever do..." He looked at her solemnly. "I give you permission to punch me hard in the face!" he huffed. Hurriedly, he added, "but not too hard..."

Sarah laughed softly at Happy's comment. "You know I could never do that," she replied, resting a hand on his shoulder. "If anything it would only be a tap on the cheek."
