ogawd i'm lost

Violet suddenly shrunk three inches just at the thought of such a place. She opened her mouth to speak out against it, but she thought otherwise. What if Jacob was just being a jerk and pulling a prank on the shy new kid? But then again, he had kind to her so far and he looked sincere. Violet just stood there for a few moments, not knowing what to do. Her face turned red out of embarrassment and she accidentally shrunk another inch.

"How do you shrink like that?" asked Jacob

"Um," Violet adjusted her clothes a little since they were now a little big on her. "I-I don't know," she muttered, blushing furiously. Her face turned an even brighter red with the effort of keeping herself from shrinking another few inches.

"Do you like swimming?" he asked

Violet looked up at Jacob and grew a few inches taller, although she was still s few inches short of her normal size. "I suppose so," she said.

Happy tried his best to keep up. He tagged along silently. He was glad he didn't admit that he, himself was also lost. "S- So you're our new roommate? U- uhm... Okay. I umm... Hope you like the dorm," he said with much effort.

Violet turned to face Happy. "Thank you," she said with a weak smile. She blushed a little bit and looked down at her feet. Violet finally grew back to her normal size.

Happy watched her. "That's a cool ability," he complimented, swaying side-to-side bashfully. He wasn't good at holding conversations, nor was he very skilled at starting them. Or ending them. Or even talking at all for that matter!

"What's your ability?" Violet asked looking at Happy with interest.

Happy hesitated. Do I tell her!? It wouldn't hurt to, I think... "Um... oh, my.... ability?" He had almost forgotten it himself! "D- uh... shape-shifting, but I can't do much with it. My sister is much more skilled at it than I am. If I... um... If my emotions spike up or... um... something... then, I suddenly morph into a bunny," he explained, modestly rocking back and forth, staring at the ground. Oddly, he never looked a stranger (or an acquaintance) in the eye. Ever.

"sometimes my ability is emotionally triggered too. If I feel nervous or frightened I might shrink a few inches," Violet replied with her eyes on the ground.

ic: Happy gave a nod. He was a little glad he wasn't the only one who did that. "What was... um... since you're our roommate... and stuff... what was your name? Jacob... he told you my name. It- It's Happy," he murmured.

"Violet. It's Violet," she said still looking at the floor.

"Cool name," he said plainly, sweeping his foot across the ground. Oh, geez. Say something, he thought, referring to Jacob. I can't deal with this unsociable feeling!

Violet, not knowing what else to say, stood silently, looking at the floor and scuffling her feet. Her arms where folded as she held herself insecurely.

The pressure was eating Happy alive! "So... umm... You excited to start classes and... Umm... Stuff?" he asked. I'm so stupid! Happy the stupid bunny boy! Stupid, stupid, stupid!

"Um, I-I suppose so... What are classes like here?" Violet asked, looking up at Happy.

"Oh, the classes?" He thought about it. He twiddled his thumbs and swayed a bit. "Well... Funny thing... Um... You see, I actually haven't been to any classes yet," he said, face beginning to turn red again. "Sorry..."

"Oh, well that's fine. There's nothing to be sorry for," Violet said. "I guess we'll just, um, figure out what they're like together, right?"

Happy looked up a bit. "...yeah,[b]" he said, the redness of his face not sinking away. "[b]I... uh... I would like that." I'm relieved I don't have to take classes alone. Well, I won't of course, but... He felt like he owed her a small "thank you" for the gratification he felt she needed.

Violet smiled warmly at Happy in return, her anxieties melting away and she suddenly didn't feel so shy around him.
