Payton kept a steady pace as she jogged around the track. Her legs were sticky with sweat and she was huffing ad puffing. When she had first discovered the gymnasium, Payton jumped up and down with joy. She loved sports and she wanted to stay in shape while at Beata. Almost done. Just one more lap, she thought to herself as she pushed her self to finish. One more lap around the track and she would've officially ran three miles.

William walked over to the track and started running and when he got to Payton he jogged beside her "Hello"

Payton glanced up at William. "Hey," she gasped. Then she looked straight ahead and focused on her running.

Maleia sat bck watching Payton run the track. She almost stopped her but thought. Why should I bother her?

"I'm William, what's your name?" he asked

Payton didn't answer for a few moments. "Payton," she finally breathed. She wished this guy would wait to talk to her until after she was finished running. She couldn't afford to waste her breath while jogging.

"I'll talk to you in a few minutes" he said backing off his pace

Payton was nearing the final turn. She began to pick up speed until she was sprinting. Her legs burned with the effort and she was breathing hard. Finally, she finished the last lap and slowed to a stop. Payton would of loved nothing more than to fall on the ground and rest but instead she remained standing, gasping for breath. She remembered her old track coach telling her it was bad to sit or lie down after running. She couldn't remember the reason why it was bad but her coach's word was good enough for her.

William walked up to Payton "You okay?"

Payton nodded, still breathing hard. "Three," she breathed when she had enough breath to speak. "Three miles," she said again with a sense of accomplishment.

"Ah..I can see why your tired" he said and handed her a water bottle

Payton took the water bottle from William and drank about half of it all at once. When she was done she set the bottle on the ground and put her hands on the top of her head, trying to slow down her breathing. "Do you always do this? Go out to the track and hand out free water bottles?" she asked jokingly when she had breath to spare.

"Somtimes" he laughed

Payton laughed a little and the sat down on the ground and began to stretch out her legs. "So, you're name is... William, right? How long have you been goin' to Beata?" she inquired.

"For a little while, I'm a doctor in the infirmary" he said sitting down as well

"Haha! No you're not," Payton laughed. What is this guy? Like 17? There's no way he's a doctor. she thought to herself.

"Yep, I graduated high school when I was 15 and I got my degree" he said

"Liar," Payton said casually as she continued to stretch.

"Nope, I promise you I'm not lying" he laughed

"Whatever you say, Doc," Payton said with a hint of sarcasm. She still wasn't buying it. "Well," she said as she stood up, "I should get going. Thanks for the water." Payton began to walk away when she noticed Maleia for the first time.

"Bye Payton" he said getting up

Payton gave a quick wave goodbye without looking back and kept walking.

William started walking back but he turned and jogged toward Payton "Do you like to swim?"

"Sure. Swimming's fun," Payton replied.

"Would you like to go swimming later?" he asked
