Irene muttered a quick prayer ever-so quietly under her breathe, taking a few steps back and watching the portal grow in size. It's bright, unnatural light illuminated the entire room and for a second she caught herself staring, but slowly lowered her gaze to the ground. They had been encouraged by the headmaster to assist some of the late arrivals in their free time in order to catch their skills up with that of the rest of their classmates. You'd think things like this would usually serve as a bother to Irene, but she honestly rather enjoyed it. She loved going out into the island and facing it's every danger, and one person was certainly easier to keep alive than an entire class, but this time around she honestly wasn't so sure.

Much to her displeasure, she was still shaken a bit from her - ahem, late night chat with Desken. Since then she had been sort of distancing herself away from the students. Yes, even more-so than before. She just didn't want to think much of anything of them, to save for the guilt later on, and now she was put to the task of mentoring the only student she could actually stand. Or, not like she'd really admit it to anyone, but kinda-sorta liked being around. Really, just perfect. /sarcasm. Irene bit her lip and promised herself that this was strictly a professional thing. They'd go in, do their task, and that'd be that... Right? So she should just focus on the finer things, like killing dangerous creatures and trying not to die.

Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard someone else walk into the room. That must have been him. Well, if he didn't know her position in the school before, almost certainly he would know now.

Suddenly light radiated throughtout the room as the sexy body of Brendan walked through the door /shot. Actually, he barely even noticed his good looks even though he liked to dress up in nice button-up shirts and glassy pants that made him look like he had class. He continued into the room, a little nervous as to what he was walking into until his eyes landed on Irene. "Oh, you're going to be here too? I got word that I was going to be the only student." A big smile of relief stretched across his face as he shoved one of his hands into the pocket of his pants casually. "Although I'm glad its someone I know!" It was great to him that Irene was here especially since he heard what he was about to do might be a little dangerous. That was definitely something he had not signed up for, but if it was part of classes, he was going to do it.

Ohyus. ;_; Just his mere presence brought tears to Ebony's eyes. So hot and classy~.
Well, it worked with her, but once again Irene's hormones were completely ditched in the darkness. He looked at him a little funny, suppressing her amusement before it could show on her face. Was he a little slow in the head or was he simply that misinformed? Perhaps both, or neither? The young woman blinked, "I am." She turned around to look at him, her entire being a shadow, contrasting to the sharp light behind her. "And you are. I'm going to be the one teaching you." Quietly she walked over to an indent in the wall, lighting a lanturn to see better in, giving light to a different assortment of weapons she herself had brought herself from the island. Some were random. Most were ones she had chosen for she thought they would suit the boy. If he had any questions, she'd answer him, but for now she motioned for Brendan to pick and choose one.

Now it was Brendan's turn to blink. Some things still weren't exactly connecting, but he was starting to realize that this girl must be higher up in the school, especially if she was going to be teaching him. Was she like some kind of student body president or something? Man, he was really out of the loop here on how this school works. No, that wasn't it. She wasn't a president. Brendan took a deep breath and tried to think back to the letter he had received inviting him here. It said something about elemental guardians, and now he was pretty sure she was one of them since she had, you know, used one of the four basic elements just the other day in the conservatory. Great, he had been casually talking to one of the most important students in the school. The pressure of actually meeting and performing in front of a guardian suddenly shot his nerves almost sky high, yet on the outside and in his face, he kept his cool before Irene motioned for him to choose a weapon out of several that were now lit up by the light in her hand. Crap, so this was dangerous. "Wait, if I'm going to need one of these things, I'm probably going to die, aren't I?" He asked in a half joking manner, not even thinking about what words were pouring from his lips. As his eyes scanned the walls filled with weapons, he finally spotted a rather large hammer that seemed to be pretty heavy, yet it kind of seemed to call to him. He then walked over to the giant thing and picked it up, being just as heavy as he thought it was, yet it seemed to fit perfectly into his hands. "Alright. I choose this."

Irene nodded slowly at him, flicking her gaze away and taking out one of her short butterfly swords, twisting it around in her hand thoughtfully. "Maybe. There's always the possibility." The answer was rather blunt and way calm sounding for such a serious subject. "As long as you stay by me and do what you're told, though, you should be alright. ... Just don't try anything too stupid." She looked at him and the new weapon in his hands, and was honestly a bit surprised that was his choice and thought lightly of it. "Then that is what you will work with for the remainder of the school year. Don't think about using anything else." No take-backs, sir. It was best he got accustomed to the usage of a weapon as soon as possible, and in her opinion, it was far better to be a master in the skill of one personal weapon rather than mediocre then a different assortments.

"This portal will take you to the Island. It is an other-worldly place, no where on earth will you find anything like it." Irene then couldn't help but smile a little, "Step through it and you'll feel a sort of tug. Then wait for me." It was kinda a joke for her, since most people when stepping through it for the first time lost their lunch, the rest blown away by the alien surroundings. She wondered how this cool, collected boy would react.

Brendan gave her a reluctant look before he regained composure and gave her a sexy smile. "Alright. That's not too much to ask for," He told her as he stared back at the portal that was staring at him as if he had suddenly shrunk down to the size of a bug. Why was this thing so intimidating to look at and go through? Maybe because it was just an unknown experience that would simply reveal things he had never laid eyes upon before. No biggy... He hoped. After standing there for what seemed like forever, he knew that he would have to move forward in order not to get on Irene's bad/impatient side so with the flick of his wrist, the giant hammer he had chosen poofed into thin air as a strange black hole swallowed it up as if it were nothing. Sometimes, he loved his power, but he had yet to figure out how it could be used for defense/offense. Either way, he quickly stepped into the portal, feeling that tug Irene had talked about but quickly stopped as soon as he had started. Landing on the new ground on the other side startled him and threw him to his hands and knees as he tried to regain himself. "W..Wow," he stuttered, trying to catch his breath.

And all the fangirls swooned. Irene quietly bit back a small smirk, "I should hope not." she answered him, watching him stand in front of the portal, wondering if he was going to poke at it first or be like most of the guys; running straight at it and crashing through mindlessly, with regards of what exactly could be on the other side. pfft. men. Quietly, the young woman crossed her arms, waiting for him to make a move. It was a little surprising that at his simple command, the entire of his large and heavy had gone and disappeared in an instant. Interesting. She looked at him and wondered curiously, could he make things of that size and weight appear just as fast and with ease? Where did it all go? Could he himself go through the portal, or someone else at that matter? ... Maybe even turn Beata into one giant game of Portal? :D eh? /shot.
She put her thoughts on hold as Brendan finally had gone through. Quickly, she went after him, coming out on the other side on even feet. "Don't worry, you'll get used to it." Irene bent down lower to catch his eyes, the spark of her teasing showing in her own before straightening up. "When you're ready, there's something out there destroying the forest. You're going to help me to kill it, okay?" Her tone was light, but it wasn't like he had a choice.

One giant game of Portal would be absolutely amazing. If only Brendan's lovely creator knew the answer to some of those questions. Maybe then he could actually be useful for something. After simply staying just where he was for a few seconds as the world stopped spinning, he carefully got up and took a good look at the strange place he had just stepped into. At first, the vibrant colors took his breath away... figuratively, of course, or else he wouldn't be able to breathe after the portal literally took his breath away the first time. Then, a second look at what surrounded him made him feel like he was an alien. There were so many plants and objects he didn't recognize and it made him a little nervous. If he hadn't seen these before then what kind of monster was destroying this place? That was the question that shook him the most. "Okay, so what does this monster look like? Or.. more importantly, what can it do?" He asked, nerves coating his voice. It was obvious he wasn't exactly prepared for this kind of thing, but he was going to go through with it nonetheless. As he spoke, he snapped his fingers so that the same small black hole appeared just a few inches under his hand. He then reached down into the portal, his hand vanishing into it before pulling it back out again with the giant hammer gripped firmly in his hand. As soon as the entire hammer was in their dimension again, the hole disappeared.
