| Being the only one in her dorm at the moment, or at least that was what she had figured, Irene sat quietly in her room and on her bed; staring around at her walls and the many plants decorating her room. She was having a rare lazy day. It was the weekend and there was nothing to do but kill time, like the rest of the school, but still the young woman had always found something to keep herself productive. No. Today she just felt like doing nothing at all... Weird. She was getting rather bored just sitting there, so the guardian got on her feet and had started to walk into the hall that led into the main room; hoping to find some entertainment. Some idiot, though, had left the door to his room open and it had caught her attention. Don't ask me what the hell compelled Irene to stop and go inside, because I don't even know, and I don't think she knew either. Maybe it was the object that had caught her attention.
Quietly as she could, she walked up to the bed-stand and picked up ye olde hat. 'It's so old...' she thought, twisting it around in her hands to get a good look from each angle. She had never paid much attention to it before, but she now noticed how dirty it was and how a lot of the colors were faded. Even some of the hems were coming at part a bit; carefully sewed back together she noticed. Irene frowned. It'd make sense that it would be in such condition, since it was worn constantly by it's owner. The blonde bit her lip. Maybe she should take it with her and clean it up... erm - not to be nice or anything, just to make it less of an eye-sore, of course.
Oh, my poor girl, what have you done? ;w;

| Desken had found some way to waste time on this dismal weekend. PARTAY He had been walking around the school, and if you thought about it, actually doing his job. :O But that had quickly gotten boring, and since his brother from another mother was busy, he had no choice but to return to his dorm and chill out. And probably end up playing Solitaire or something, since there wasn't any electricity. He opened the door to the dorm, silent as ever, and walked towards his room. Had he left the door open? .. Thinking about it for a moment, he remembered he had. He finally entered the room, and stopped suddenly once he saw Irene. His room was the soft color of say, a latte- why? Because that's one of the coolest colors in the world. >:C His room wasn't nearly as bright as Irene's, actually rather plain. His bed was grey and the same brown as the walls, and his bed-stand and dresser were a dark brown wood. The only thing that really stood out was the fact that is was messy. Not horribly so, but a few clothes were scattered on the floor, his bed was unmade and there was a few things throw on his bed-stand, such as his hat. Oh no. His hat. He narrowed his eyes, gritting his teeth. ohnoshededent. *snap* He had been quiet, so he doubted she had heard him enter. Calming himself down, he practically floated up behind her. "What are you doing?" He asked calmly, his voice measured, though his gaze was sharp, a rare thing for him. He looked from the hat to her, waiting for a response. Why hadn't he worn it today? It was rather hot in the final days of summer, so the hat was somewhat of a bother, since he had planned on going out to the courtyard and all. Now he regretted it. He couldn't stand others touching his hat. It was his. No one else's. Or, at least now... | |

| It would figure that as soon as she was beginning to lose interest in the hat, moving to set it back down on the stand as it was, that he could choose it as the perfect time to return to his room. Just... figured. As expected, she hadn't heard him enter the room at all, unable to tell even when he was practically behind her. With that, and the fact she had believed she was completely alone, it resulted in a pretty harsh reaction. "Ah -" Irene's emerald eyes flew wide and she visibly flinched, near dropping the hat in the process, hadn't she been able to quickly regain herself half-way before it hit the floor. The blonde quickly spun on her heel to face him, "Oh, um -" she stumbled out in a manner quite strange for her, avoiding his look. She held the hat up close to her chest in one hand, using the other to awkwardly brush a few bangs out of her face. "Desken..." The young woman cleared her throat, though he blood was cold from the surprise. Finally catching the his gaze - it was almost frightening - and it only threw her off more. "You know... just - looking around..." Being overly-curious. Totally going into your personal space. Messing with your most prized possession. All that fun stuff. Irene bit her lip again, considering holding up the hat back as an offering, and maybe she could get away from this situation clean. :D I mean, he hadn't tried to kill her yet~ But obviously it was very important to him and, in stubborn curiosity, she wanted to see just how much exactly. She straightened up, forcing herself to look at him in the eyes - as pressuring as it was. "Why? Is there a problem?"

| If he wasn't holding back his anger, he might have found the reaction comical. He felt bad for surprising her, and the reaction startled him a bit too, though he quickly forgot about it. He watched the hat begin to fall, and was about to reach for it, but Irene saved it's fall. His eyes followed the hat ND HE STARD AT HR BOOBYZ before returning to her eyes. Staring into her soul. AND SHATTERING IT. "Looking around?" He asked casually, raising an eyebrow. "In my room?" He said slowly. It wouldn't been best if she had given it back. Then he would have simply kicked her out of his room and toke his anger out on some innocent air or something. His haaaaat. ;AAA; But she was curious, and at her question he looked away, at the wall behind her, casually putting his hand in his pockets. "Well, I'd rather you not randomly go touch my stuff, is all." Actually, he didn't mind the fact that she was in his room to much, it just annoyed him a bit. His anger was simply towards the fact that she had touched that hat. He briefly imagined the previous owner, before pushing the memory away and looking at Irene, eyes still as piercing. >3> Shaaame. | |

| She blinked a few times, "Well, yes - as a matter of fact -" Irene frowned slightly and gave a quick glance around the room. "It's not like I've ever really gotten a good look in here." Mostly because she had never had a reason to... ever. Except for kicking him awskr in the night when they were needed. She liked his decor, though. |D It was all warm and cozy. "Why's that?" Irene said rather suddenly, a soft smile on her face as she tested the waters. The young woman hardly looked up at him, paying more attention to his shoulders to the wall behind him instead; simply trying to look unnerved by his sharp gaze. "I thought you wanted to be friends, right?" she said carefully, "Friends are supposed to share with each other, weren't you taught that? I wouldn't mind if you messed with my things." That was the truth. Mostly because her room was so simple it had hardly anything in it, much less of value to her. Irene turned away slightly, twisting the hat around in her hands again. "I don't see the reason to look so upset..." I mean, come on, it was just a hat... It's not like she had touched anything else. | |

| Following her gaze, he looked around the room too. He hadn't necessarily put a lot of work into the room, but he liked it. A few things could have been added to make it more enjoyable, of course, such as a TV, XBox, maybe a computer. Without electricity, there really wasn't much to do. He narrowed his eyes, as if to warn Irene she was stepping over an invisible line. The noticeable smile on her face wasn't making him an happier, as he felt like this was funny to her. ;A; It's not. His haaat. Well played, Irene. The wind guardian quickly recalled a certain night on a certain couch, and the conversation she spoke of. Right. He felt like doing something along the lines of this, , but at the moment, the tables were safe. Desken bit his lip, taking a moment to reply, looking more interested in that back wall than anything else. "That's right, Irene." He began, maybe making those first words a bit more condesending than they needed to be. "But friends or not, it isn't exactly polite to mess with people's stuff when they're gone." He retorted, holding back a rude remark such as, Because you know everything about friendship. >3> Because nice Desken was nice. The young man let out a quiet, exasperated sigh. "Can you just give it back?" He questioned, the words comin out a bit sharper than intended, probably telling Irene that she was on to something, and also that the hat was really what mattered. But fuck it. He wanted his hat back. D; | |

| Irene stood quietly and watch as he threw his gaze behind her out of the corner of her eye, still unable to help but have the smallest smile. Admittedly, this was rather funny to her, in a bitter-sweet sort of way. There was obviously something she was doing in particular that drew him so far out of his normal nature, it was a little interesting to her in a way. That, and the fact that this almost felt like a little bit of revenge to her, for those times he liked to tease her - only to piss her off. It was satisfying to find a weak spot of his. The young woman gave him a feigned look of pity, giving a silent, melodramatic sigh. "You're right. How rude of me." She said quietly, taking a few steps further back away from him, twords the back wall. Irene looked serious again for a few moments, as if in thought, before it finally clicked together. Good job, Desken, you just gave yourself away. She started spinning the hat in her hands again, turning her gaze to it before suddenly smiling softly again. "I don't know - I rather like it. Maybe this could be my belated present?" She said, trying to disguise the teasing tone in her voice. The blonde turned back to face him, doing the worst - She slipped the hat on her head and held it down, covering one eye and peering through her bangs, as she had seen him do many times before. "Do you think I could pull it off?" Still, as she looked relaxed, she was bracing for the worst.

| Glad to hear you're enjoying this Irene. ;3; How much will you enjoy after Desken gets angry? >8C You won't like him when he's angry.
It was funny how their roles were practically switched at this point- this wasn't like either of them. Irene was always the serious one, and Desken would have been making fun of her for the fun of it. Revenge isn't cool, yo. ;___; he relaxed a bit whenever she finally sounded like she'd give him his hat back and leave. He watched her go, saw the thoughtful expression and the final understanding as she pieced everything together. Really Desken, it wasn't that hard to figure out. You were pretty obvious~ Wait, what? Of course she liked it, that hat was the greatest thing ever created, but seriously? He bit his lip at the mention of a present, knowing he had never exactly given her one.
And then she did the unthinkable.
He watched her spin around to face him, raise the hat to her head and slip it on, covering her eye. Honestly, she looked extremely cute like that, and maybe he'd think about that later, but definitively not now. He noticeably flinched and looked away a moment. Whenever he looked back, he didn't appear angry- instead mischievous. He finally figured out how he'd approach this, and quickly moved forward, right in front of the young woman. He grabbed the wrist of the hand she used to hold on to the hat, and used his other hand to grab the hat himself, slipping it on his head as she had done, now holding back a smile. "I don't know. I think it looks a bit better on me, don't you think?" He questioned calmly, and maybe a bit playfully. He was also a bit close to her, his hand still wrapped around her wrist.

| At first she looked rather pleased, catching his flinch - was it that important really. The young woman wondered for a moment how many people had ever gotten their hands on it, much less put it on like she had done. Irene had been smiling again, loosening up her little pose before he had walked over in front of her, much faster than she had expected. The smirk was instantly wiped off her face as he grabbed her wrist, taking the hat away and replacing it on his own head.
Well, if his goal was to turn the tables back around, he did quite the marvelous job. Beginning to feel rather cheated now, she looked up at him and caught his amber gaze. Cautiously, she looked for the soul-shattering, sharpness that had been there before, but was unable to find it - only that usual sly gleam. She frowned. No way. There was no way all of that could just disappear like that, he had to be playing her. - ... He couldn't just stop her fun like that! D:
And yes, it did - just a bit. Or a lot~. And that was why Irene slit her eyes and threw her gaze the other way, quickly getting back into her own role, though it did feel abnormally warm where he held her; the same strangeness lightly heating her face, though still not entirely sure why. "Perhaps." The blonde said quietly, snatching her hand back. "I guess you can keep it. It's old and worn anyways." She shrugged, as if it were no big deal, still having not a clue of the value behind it. Irene rubbed her wrist lightly without even thinking about it.

| To answer her question, he could count on his hands the amount of people that had touched that hat since he had received it. Since the day he found out the strange man who gave it to him was really his grandfather, he didn't even let his parents touch it. It had been big on him for a while whenever he was a child, and he did usually wear it, instead kept it in a safe spot hidden under his bed, so no one would find it. Once he could wear it, he rarely toke it off. Whenever someone had purposely touched it, and that one time- e.e- wore it, the look Irene received would have been considered warm. Yeah, Irene got it off easy. He liked the way the smirk vanished, letting him know he had effected her. He knew she was doing that all to mess with him, and he enjoyed the fact that he had fixed things. Good job, Desken. Instead of flipping the tables all together, you managed to turn them. :D *applauds* Maybe that sly gleam was a facade, but he was a bit better now, with the hat in it's rightful place- on his head, away from wandering hands like Irene's. So in a way, he was playing her. But he was good at it. After all, he is the mischievous type. ;D He felt the warmth of her wrist under his hand, and perhaps he was a bit disappointed when she pulled away... Perhaps. >3> Desken nodded, not moving from his spot directly in front of her. He could practically feel her warmth, but it wasn't on his mind. His thoughts were basically, My haaat. ;u; My precious. I'll never let you out of daddy's sight again. ;A; *shot* Insulting his hat also wasn't the best idea, and a bit of the sharpness in his eyes returned as he toke a step away, taking the hat off and examining it. "There's nothing wrong with that." He murmured, pretty much defending his hat. But his thoughts were on someone else, and for a little bit, he let a bit of emotion shine through, a mixture of sadness and nostalgia. | |

| Well, maybe she didn't want to be let off the hook so easily. Maybe she knew how difficult it was to provoke Desken and, finally finding a way to do so, she hoped it'd be enough to drive him off the edge. You could almost say that while he was perhaps disappointed she just pulled away, she was honestly almost disappointed that he wasn't trying to beat the crap out of her. Like a foil to her, the wind guardian was way too passive, sometimes too much for his own good even. I mean, come on... It's okay to try and let out your anger now and then. ;w; And when she said vent, she didn't mean take it out on a bunch of innocent air particles. Irene stopped rubbing her wrist after the feeling away, moving to cross her arms together, though having to be careful not to brush against him as they were so close. Quietly, she glared up at him, watching him step back and start messing with his hat once again. "No?" The young woman gave him a strange, questionable look. She supposed not, if he didn't mind looking like a street - ohwait. Either way, it was bound to fall apart one of these days at this rate, anyways. "Why not just get a new one? Or hand it over and I'll make it like it was..." Brand new, that is. Pfft. As if that would ever happen, but hell - she could. "It's just a hat." Irene muttered, repeating earlier thoughts before looking back up... wait - was he really that upset over it? He was kidding, right? She frowned, catching unto sharp glare returning as well as the look on his face. It really was just an accessory. Calm down, sir. "... right?" Still, she sounded a little uncertain. | |

| But here's the thing. Desken was never one to act harshly. He was always careful, watchful, and thinking of the right way to react. He had long ago learned to hide away more intense emotions such as the anger he had felt moments ago. Even that cold look and little emotion he let out in his voice was admittedly more than he had liked to be seen. But at that, Irene was on the right track. If anything could make him snap, it was messing with that hat. And, though he didn't quite understand why yet, it being Irene to do so had made it just a bit worse. And the air doesn't mind. ;A;
He looked up, saw her challenging gaze, and turned his attention back to his hat once again. Even though it looked like it would fall apart soon, he couldn't afford to think like that. He would fix it up then, like he always did. He had always thought that some day, he'd give it to his child- avaaaataaaar or simply someone close to him. Because who wouldn't want that hat? "No." He said sharply, in reply to both comments. There was no way he'd let anyone touch it. Though the idea was tempting- a new looking, clean hat? It could look like, if not better than the day he had received it. But no. Not even Irene would be allowed to touch his precious hat.... Yet. >3>
Without thinking, he shook his head just a bit. If you weren't looking for it, you probably wouldn't even notice the reaction at all. "Right." But even as he placed the hat back on his head, shooting her a smile, he didn't sound particularly certain himself.

| Think about it this way. If you stepped back and looked at it, and if that were the case, then Desken was as bad with emotions as Irene was. The only difference being was she refused to show any fear or sadness so long as she could help; but wasn't it just as bad trying to stash away any anger and other negatives like along with it? No? Well, alright, but it made sense in Ebony's mind. So, instead, let's just feel bad for all those innocent little patches of air who were disrupted by Des' alternative to table flipping. D;
Irene blinked, still rather surprised by how quickly he answered her offer, and the slightly harsh tone laced in it; though she supposed that she really shouldn't have been at this point. She stayed in her spot, arms still crossed, as she watched him quietly - not really having a word to say to him in this awkwardly quiet moment. Well, at the rate he was going with it, though, it wouldn't last forever - but if that was what he wanted then she didn't feel particular inclined to argue. The blonde wasn't even sure why exactly she had offered in the first place. One of these days, perhaps...
And no, as a matter of fact, even though she was looking right at him, she hadn't noticed the off recoil; however, the tone in his voice was off and it still left her feeling unconvinced. She frowned and bit her lip, throwing her gaze away for a few for a few moments before deciding to speak up again. "Are you sure?" Irene asked quietly. As in, 'am I getting the whole picture here or are you still messing with me?'

| Lol, I understand. xD True, if you looked at it that way, Irene and Desken weren't that different. *gasp* But I suppose if you thought about it, Irene had shown Desken her true darker colors, and perhaps it was time for him to as well. >:C Well, come on Des. Tell her all about your little hat there.
He looked up and bit his lip, realizing the mistake of that answer. He shouldn't be to harsh. She hadn't done anything wrong, after all. Ohwait. Yeah she did. She had touched the hat, had placed it on her head. But then again, even if she had done the worst thing anyone could possibly do, he wasn't that upset. It was nice to see her more playful side for a change, other than the more straightforward, let's get down to business (Read that Mulan style. >:C) serious attitude. And she had looked cute in with that hat on... *shot*
He looked over at her. On one hand, he felt like he should tell her. She had shown him her weaker side before, why shouldn't he return the favor and let her know why he liked the hat so much? On the other, he almost felt like the hat was something that only two people in this world should know about- well, one now. Maybe he was a bit greedy, and wanted the knowledge of his grandfather's existence to be his own. He had never told his mother, despite how much he wanted to. She should have known, but then again, he knew it would have hurt her more than anything. More than anyone else. But why shouldn't Irene know? She had nothing to do with it, after all. She didn't know his grandfather. It wouldn't have any effect on her. But he still didn't feel like saying anything. Not yet, anyway. "Of course." He dismissed the subject casually, giving her a smile that seemed to reply, Yes, I'm totally missing with you. >:3

| Alright, Ebs might as well post before she curls up in her bed and dies from all these SE feels.
The young woman slit her eyes again, but said nothing as she watched him carefully. Yeah, come on, Desken; Let's see that worst side of you. You'd have to deal with it sooner or later. Someday, apparently not today, but someday... cx Fortunately, for him, Irene seemed to lose her interest fairly quickly in the matter. "Fine." she said simply, rolling her eyes at his casual smile. She didn't feel like pushing it if he obviously wasn't going to answer. As long as nothing significantly bad happened to either of them, the opportunity would come back again sooner or later, or at least that was what she figured.
Instead, she uncrossed her arms and brushed lightly past him, flicking her fingers lightly just below the cap of his hat - just to irritate him a bit, she glanced around for the nearest seat and finding not one exactly readily available. There was his bed, but she'd really prefer not to go with that. Instead, she settled with a strange make-do. The girl moved aside a few things on his dark dresser and easily tossed herself up, getting comfortable and crossing her legs. "So," Irene started, the soft smile returning quietly. She assumed that she was allowed to stay here. If he really wanted her gone, he'd have thrown her out a while ago, so she didn't see the problem in trying to use him for some form of entertainment. "I'll play you at something. Twenty questions, maybe?" That always proved to be interesting. Ahem. x3 justnownoticediputtod. xD wasthinkingoftruthortruthdamnitlol.
